Let Dr. Joe Brown help you. He works with people of all ages who are having trouble with panic attacks, phobias, social anxiety and obsessive compulsive problems.
Call me Dr. Joe
"Anxiety is almost all I do, and I've been doing it for a long time."
For 10 years he directed the Anxiety Disorders Treatment Programs at UConn Medical School.
He works with everyone from toddlers to senior citizens, and with parents of young children.
Licensed to practice clinical psychology in both Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Some of us get too anxious, or anxious too often. Dr. Joe helps with:
Therapy is focused on learning new skills to face your fears and better manage your anxiety. It does not take a long time, and it centers on the present rather than the past.
Learning to change your behavior and do those things you are afraid of will quickly make you less afraid.
Changing your behavior improves your thoughts and feelings. With younger children, Dr. Joe teaches parents and caregivers behavior modification techniques.
Our feelings come from what we think about what is happening to us. If you change how you think, you'll change how you feel.
Anxiety can return years later. Learning the skills yourself means you'll know what to do if it ever begins to come back.
The ultimate goal: to teach you to be your own cognitive behavioral therapist, with Dr. Joe available as your consultant.

Cognitive and behavioral therapy for anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, social anxiety and especially obsessive compulsive problems.

Consultation and training for fellow clinicians, many of whom know him simply as "Joe Brown, the OCD and Anxiety Guy."

Dr. Joe has written many papers and delivered many public addresses about anxiety, and especially about OCD.

But I prefer to be called Joe. If you feel you have to call me Dr. something, Dr. Joe would be fine.
I'm a cognitive behavioral psychologist who specializes in helping people with anxiety problems.
Dr. Joe is the author of And You Thought You Were Crazy: Beating OCD.
